I develop addictions to songs.. in private I am the type of listener who will have a track (I absolutely love) loop for an hour and just be completely happy with that one song.
This has been that song for me in the last few days..
This is care of my friend, jbrotherlove - who's musical stylings continue to impress me. Thanks again, m'dear :)
I remember studying in my room and my roommates walking by as I had this playing and ask, "who is that?"..
"Chet Baker."
"Chet who?"
"Come in and listen with me..."
.... the day I moved out of the house I lived in with my three roommates .. we had four copies of this album.
I'm sure they're still enjoying the listen as much as I do.
This is my favorite off that compilation... it's perfect for late night... and even solo. Not just for lovers :)
Jason's Flashback Friday track In Every Way by Reverie just kicked things off for today. Gilles is impeccable with his music selection.. hands down. Best music selector on the planet.
So trying to continue in that same vein - I know Gilles is a big fan of Vikter. I used to not be. Now? Well... let's just say I've matured a little with my music appreciation capabilities and I am now able to separate the "asshole" artist behavior from his/her art. The end product and its ability to stir up emotions in me and not what emotions stirred the artist to create it is far more valuable and important in my eyes.
With that...here's some 2-stepish, broken beat joint from the Vikter. It's got a beat that's a wee bit nasty/dirty - that punchy rhythm. But yknow... a nice girl needs that kind of punch every once in a while. But I wouldn't take it there. :)
Enjoy.
This is my favorite song off her What a Beautiful Place album. I will write more on Ms Howe but that will take forever - she stirs up some warmth and happiness... sadness too.
But she is right up my alley of classic folk faves... you just know when a singer's voice just feels like home. And hers does.
(thanks, Jason!)
So while dancing at our favorite spot one evening - the dj threw this one in.
Must say I'm impressed with Raphael's solo effort...
I was hooked ever since.
