Bebel Gilberto is sultry. I've seen her live. Trust me, I know. She moves with a certain grace that is so alluring ... even to women. It glows with confidence - and singing in Portuguese with a voice like that just propels her to goddess-like status. (at least in my book). She is definitely one of my role models. I would like to channel sexy, just like that.
One of my dearest and best just found the allure of the bossa nova world. I thought I'd ease Felicia in with a slightly newer release from a voice with so much history and roots from the genre.
( * This particular track was also used in Six Feet Under and it is included in the cd compilation for the show. And I remember clearly the scene it was played in... Claire's going away party at their house.... I guess moments before dinner. Wonderful show. I miss so much. But major props to the music director for picking Bebel. Great stuff.)
Enjoy.
@ the mission with Felicious, MisterJT, AllaboutGeorge and co.. good times had.
This is probably one of my favorite love songs of all-time.
Thanks for reminder, ladies.
Enjoy...
Tonight I am off to San Francisco for the weekend with Anna, Felicia and Carolline. We are renting a luxury car, we are staying at a fancy hotel, we will be drinking yummy drinks and eating delicious food. By 11pm tomorrow night - I am almost certain we will be on some dancefloor working things out ... proper.
Bay area, here we come.
Felicia posted her Sunday song by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Here's another version by Bobby Womack via Rae & Christian:
A nice day. Wet. Full. Happy...
I figure its only fitting to share a song from today's Amoeba finds. Earlier, my basket was full of jazz selections - from Joao Gilberto in Tokyo to A Nina Simone Boxset.. so much good stuff I had a hard time choosing but with the help of JT I came home with this... and I am very happy with it.
It's almost 11pm... and the night feels young now -I was a little tired after dinner... but Lester Young and company are putting me in the mood. I love how jazz collaborations translates it's energy so well to its listener. Maybe I'll call my friends again. :)
Have a great Saturday everyone...
hmm... maybe its time we go out and shake our behinds to some live latin.
